Question Why not wine if so little carbs?

My husband and I love to drink wine. A few months ago we even built a mini-cellar. I'm on day five of induction, it's Friday night, beautiful Spring weather with supper on the porch. I understand that alcohol is burned before fat, but if I've eaten way below the 20 carbs today, why can't I enjoy a glass of wine?

I'm not being a whiner (no pun intended). I just really want to know what the deal is. If I'm going to ruin the effort I've already put into this induction than I won't have any wine and have a temper tantrum instead (and be a whiner).

I think there are two things:

1) concern that a little alcohol may skew your judgement on things to eat.

2) that a few hours or more while your body burns the alcohol away will just delay your body reaching the desired fat-burning level.

but I should let some senior members chime in...

If you are doing INDUCTION, you should have NO WINE BEFORE ITS' TIME. Suggest you go to Atkins.com and read the article

Hi Jackaia!

A mini-cellar - that's awesome! DH and I are also very into wine - and it was very difficult for me to give up my nightly glass or 2. I gave it up for a while but now have reserved my wine drinking to the weekend. Some times I don't lose, some times I gain, some times I lose. I have yet to figure out any rhyme or reason to it. I would say to wait until after induction. Or if you really need a glass - try cutting it with seltzer (if it's white) or fully prepare yourself to not lose and or have your loss on hold for a day or 2.

Cheers!!
ps: if you do have a glass or 2 - be very careful about the cravings - I know I've never gotten the munchies with wine, but some people may!

I'm a wine lover too and this is my issue...my judgement goes out the window on what I want to eat. Also, just from experience on drinking wine while on Induction (can you say hard-head), my loss slows or stops until I give up the wine.

Patience, grasshopper!

Dana
