Question OK I'm having a minor freak-out

Have been surfing around reading other low carb threads in this forum-- and it looks like most everyone keeps their carbs under 20?Just to reassure me, I'm doing this right, right? My carbs for the last 3 days have been
18
22
and then a big 41 today.
But it is my understanding that Dr. S allows 15-30 carbs per meal.I'm not very active, but that will change soon.

Default Questions

Have you read book 1 or book 2?

From SPI

Quote:
Slightly overweight with Insulin-Meter:
Sedentary - 15 gram meals with 7.5-15 gram snacks
Somewhat Active - 15-30 gram meals with 0-15 gram snacks
Active - 30 gram meals with 0-15 gram snacks
Extremely Active - 45-60 gram meals with 0-7.5 gram snacks

Overweight with Excessive Insulin-Meter:
Sedentary - 15 gram meals with 7.5 gram snacks
Somewhat Active - 15 gram meals with 7.5-15 gram snacks
Active - 15-30 gram meals with 0-15 gram snacks
Extremely Active - 30-45 gram meals with 0-15 gram snacks

But book II would depend upon if you are Insulin Resistant or Insulin Sensitive and if you have healthy adrenal glands or burned out adrenal glands. It can be anywhere from 15 carbs per meal to 30 and 7 carbs per snack or more.

Good Luck, Pianobeiner

I read Book I--heard that 2 was harder to follow--but plan to check it out at the library soon. We own 1 and also have the cookbook. One thing: if you need blood work to determine your type I may be in trouble,we have no health insurance right now--.
Thanks-

Oh, and I'm not overweight-- 113 at 4'9-- just at the higher end of my ideal weight and not happy with my inability to wear hoochie clothes properly. I am not active at all --have been a home-based worker for over a year and my disability(I walk on crutches)make a lot of traditional excercise programs impossible to do independantly.I'm looking into water areobics class though--.

Hi Kayte

I think I know what is confusing you, you said that looking around the forum it seemed most people are keeping their carbs under 20 - you were probably looking at the Atkins Board or even the General Low Carb Board and most of the people posting there are doing Atkins Induction which limits the carbs to 20 a day. People on other low carb plans post on the General Forum but it does seem to basically be mostly questions from those on Atkins.

So the answer is yes she does advocate 15-30 carbs per meal and 7-15 per snack.

Hope you enjoy the plan

Edit - I see Piano explained it very nicely above

Hi Kayte! I know what you mean about wearing those hoochie clothes! LOL! I think you are on the right track about getting active. That is what really makes a difference for me. If I take the time to exercise then I want to eat healthy as to have not wasted my time exercising. I did water aerobics at the YMCA for awhile. I loved the deep water really well. You can do it!

I feel really good and very satisfied eating the TSP way. Good luck!

Denise
