Thumbs up

A truly excellent article! Thanks for posting it Andy.

I've often wondered about how a low-carb diet affects athletic performance; I thought endurance athletes might have a whole different metabolism and different nutritional needs.

I was encouraged even by most negative thing the article says about a high-fat diet:

"And remember that when you're on a high-fat diet, it can be more difficult to stockpile much carbohydrate in your body in the first place. High-fat diets conserve carbohydrate, which is good, but lead to little carbohydrate storage, which can be very bad."

I assume they mean bad for endurance athletes, not for those of us who are trying to eliminate decades of accumulated carbohydrate stores!

Since the article places such an emphasis on cholestorol studies, I wonder if an additional link to it should be placed in the cholesterol forum.
