Hit a Milestone
As stated in my introduction, on of the reason why I became serious about doing LC is to pass the APFT (Army Physical Fitness Test) and the body fat test. I am a 28 year old male, which means that I need to do 17 minutes or faster on the 2 mile run (never had problems with push-ups or sit-ups) and have 24% or less body fat.
As for the body fat test, Army uses the measurements from the neck and waist (around the navel), and uses a lookup table combined with the height to come up with a body fat percentage. I believe that is a highly inaccurate way of measuring BF but that's the current Army standard and that's what I'm going with.
During the last drill (May 20, 2006) I ran 16:30 on the two mile run.
My measurements were:
Weight: 200 pounds
Height: 66.5"
Neck: 17.5"
Waist: 39.0"
This means my BF is 23.58%
I still have a long way to go since I am not settling for bare minimum. However, it feels great to not to be flagged for being unfit, not to mention that my uniform fits heck of a lot better now.
