Default Finally broke my stall

In all honesty, I guess I cannot properly call it a stall, since I have been losing inches steadily. In fact, I can wear clothes today that I couldn't wear 2 weeks ago. However, the number on the scale has a powerful impact, and I have been in a significant funk for the past 6 weeks or so. On Friday, November 28, I weighed 270. The next Friday I had gained 4 pounds and kept that gain until today. I did NOTHING different. I stayed on plan, I exercised, I drank water, I got plenty of sleep (or as much as I could, considering I have a 3 month old daugher).

I have slowly lost that four pounds, and now today I finally feel OK for the first time in weeks. In fact, for the past few days I had been seriously considering quitting this diet altogether.

Even seeing the inches lost, even wearing the clothes that were too tight before, the number on the scale is all-consuming. Isn't that odd?

Anyway, I thought I would announce that my stall has finally been broken. It feels good. I definately needed it.

Congratulations, you hung in there and it paid off. I know what you mean, the scales can be very intimidating if they don't cooperate. Best wishes for continued success.

Wonderful to see you out of your stall state, Amaara ... strange and frustrating how the scale doesn't always reflect what's happening in your body but how much we depend on it psychologically to keep us motivated.

I commend you for sticking with it even though it was disheartening for you!

Congratulations! It is on LC that I feel best. My higher carb test is making me feel pukey! Figure if I do not feel better by today I am coming home, as well!

Good for you for you "stick-to-it-ive-ness" and hanging in there. Glad you saw the scale move - I know how heartening that can be!

That scale can be as much an enemy as a friend. I have been stalling too and though I know things are happening in other areas I just want to see it in numbers. I usually grab some part of the body and feel because the body tells the real story. Things are shifting flab is flabbier sags are saggier. Keep hangin in the numbers will come.

I too am addicted to the scales - darn - but the measurements I take as well keep me motivated! Glad you hung in there and things are moving for you now!

Amaara...I can certainly understand your frustration. I went through a very bad time last year, but unlike you sticking to it, I caved in. Now I ask you...what good did it do me? Did I lose weight when I went off? NOOOOO Did I lose inches? NOOOOO Did I feel good, physically or psychologically? NOOOOO Did it improve my life in ANY possible way? NOOOOO So now I look at it this way when I feel like just giving it all up....what would be the alternative? Would I seriously go on another plan and continue to lose? Probably not. So now I'm developing a new way of looking at things. So I don't lose fast....or lose inches fast...but at least I'm not gaining. I feel better about myself. I take better care of myself. I exercise. I can be proud of me and you should be very proud of you. The best of luck to you on your journey! I know you can do it! We all can!

Good for you! My experience with this diet is one stall after another. Sometimes they last up to 6 weeks - what a drag. I feel your pain. But then like yourself I go out to buy new jeans and I'm 2 inches smaller in the waist. I dunt undastund.

But I know one thing for sure: if I quit I'm going to blimp out and hit a new record high. Thats how I got this big to start with; I level out at a new high weight, diet and lose a few pounds, quit and gain back plus 10. Every time!!!

But not this time! It's all or nothing, baby.

Keep up the good fight.

Title of this thread reminds me of when I broke a toilet at work ... but that's a story probably left untold...
