Default Help!

I have been on the CAD/CALS program for about three weeks. When I compare my first week of averaging my weight to my second week it indicates that I have lost 5 pounds. Now in my third week, I seem to be going up and down. Right now I am up about a pound from my comparison. What am I doing wrong??

You are only supposed to compare weekly averages. Weight fluctuates on a daily basis. Don't compare your daily weights to your weekly average. You'd go crazy.

Also, if you're a woman, you can gain weight due to TOM. So you have to learn your body rhythm to know when that gain will happen and by how much so you don't get upset.

Default don't freak!

This is a life style change, not a sudden weight loss diet...take the weight fluctuations in stride and look at your loss in the life time long-view, otherwise you'll stress out and explode.

When you aren't dieting, do you obsess over daily weight? No. Try to be objective, like a lab scientist observing and taking down data. A certain amount of detachment can help you to be a lot happier. I look at my weight from a monthly view when I'm doing this program the right way even as I take down my daily "data".

I'll get off my soap box now!

Can't remember having not been dieting or obsessing over weight. LOL.....do people actually live like that?

Anyway, I couldn't handle the daily's or the weekly's. I go for the first Sat. of the month and I feel immensely more relaxed. I know this would be a long time to spot a problem, but for me....the stress had to go.

Thanks for all of your answers, but shouldn't I be losing the most in the beginning??? Why am I already at a standstill?

I didn't take a big plunge at the beginning of this like I do on most "diets". For me, it averages out about a pound a week, but never anything really steady. For this reason, I chose to go against the book and weigh once per month. Works better for me. I think I thrive on big surprises!

Don't let it bother you (if you can) and just keep pluggin' away...it's gonna go.
