Talking Summer's Coming

Day by day it draws closer...that time of year when we are forced to take off all the camoflage clothing and strip down to tee shirts and shorts.

For the first time in YEARS I feel like I might not have to cleverly hide the years and the pounds I've collected. I started LCing in mid-January, and I started exercising too. And dang if I don't feel great. So even though I'll never be in a bikini again (one kid, stretch marks, c-section, 49 years...need I say more?) at least I won't have to merely WISH I took better care of myself. I am taking better care of myself. And you are too. Big high fives all around!

Would anyone like to share their goals for summer? Mine is to stop hiding.

Isa

You are so right, Isa. I used to sit around complaining that my pants were too tight and that I was too tired to exercise. Now I'm looking at my cute tank tops and skirts and anxiously awaiting showing off my new buff arms and slender calves.

Summer goal- Enjoy the summer by staying active... walking, jogging, biking, rollerblading! Don't spend sunny Saturdays inside!

Now that summer is REALLY (hopefully) coming, anyone want to state their goals?

I want to run, hop, jump, and play!

At 123 pounds, you can probably get away with wearing most swimsuits. Congrats to you!

As for me, well...I haven't had much success with this. I expect to be sweltering as usual this summer. Luckily the summer in SoCal is rather long--maybe I'll lose a few pounds by late summer.

It's been four years since I wore a pair of shorts out in public, not counting working out and working in the yard. I'm so happy not to have to suffer through another Mississippi July in blue jeans! And the purple honeymoon bikini makes me pretty happy too... nobody will have to call Greenpeace to roll me back into the ocean!

My goal for this summer is to get some new shorts because my old ones are all way too big. Thank you Dr. Atkins, wherever you are.

"Day by day it draws closer...that time of year when we are forced to take off all the camoflage clothing and strip down to tee shirts and shorts."

BTW, we're not FORCED to do anything.

I wear t-shirts most of the time anyway. It's the shorts part I'm afraid of.

I'm looking forward to the summer (mainly because it's winter here.. so I'll be so happy to get over to Texas in a months time) so I can actually feel warm!!!!

The shorts thing has never bothered me. Neithe has the tank tops.. my long term goal is to get into a bikini, but I don't think it'll be happening in the next month

I've been concentrating on upper body work with weights and YES! I can wear sleeveless shirts this year -- and not just to mow the yard. At 54 I consider that an accomplishment!

My summer goal is to sit on the beach in a bathing suit. It has been at least 8 years. I'm a little closer than I was but still have a long way to go before I dare, until then it is shorts and t shirts for me!!

Default One word...

Rollerblading. I want to rollerblade again.

Shorts would be nice since I tend to live in capris, but the rollerblading is the big thing. I don't care what I look like, just that I'll be able to do it!!!

Hey cori...you go rollerblading, girl! Good for you!

mkathy6...I'd actually like to WALK down a beach in a bathing suit, let alone sit on the sand, without feeling like I've got jello thighs and a spare tire. This summer I just might make it.

csj...congratulations! That's fantastic! I've been walking and doing a pilates routine with body bands, and I can really see the difference. I may still have pounds to go before I'm at goal, but I don't scare myself in a tee shirt anymore.

abbey...bikinis. Those days are long, long gone for me. *sigh* Go for it if you can, though. Why not?

atlee...you crack me up!!! Greenpeace indeed! heeheheeheeeee!

skamito...for me it's swimming, hiking, gardening, music festivals, outdoor markets...all those things. Summer comes really late here and leaves early. We have to get out there while we can. And for the first time in years I feel like getting out there.

Cheers to all of us and to our goals for the summer. We are all at different stages in this LC way of eating, but at least we're doing something positive for ourselves. Let's keep up the great work!

Isa

(Don't know why I'm so cheerful...it's rainy, windy, and cold today.)
