Article on cholesterol in today's NYTimes
Very interesting article, by Jane Brody, who has turned away from a low-fat approach. While not low-carb per se, the diet recommended to raise HDL levels is far higher in monosaturated fats--and lower in carbs-- than the standard "Pyramid."
Also worth noting: the article says that a weight-loss regimen will raise HDL levels but not necessarily WHILE the weight is being lost. In other words, it might take awhile but the levels will rise. So this might be comforting to people who don't notice better cholesterol levels after three or so months on Atkins.
