Default Why is my mouth so dry?

Does anyone else have this problem? I wake up in the middle of the night because my mouth is so dry. I end up drinking a whole glass of water throughout the night. I am drinking plenty of water. I drink two 32oz water a day at work. Usually a glass or two when I get home, and then some at the gym.

Could it be too much salt.? I dont eat a lot of bacon or salt things that much.

Any ideas?

Wee

Could be a side effect of Ketosis - or just that you sleep with your mouth open!

Thanks guys, good to know. The problem is that I have the icky taste in my mouth, my mouth is dry, I'm losing weight, but the ketostix are not turning color!!!! I'll try again today.

OK, maybe I do sleep with my mouth open ! Now I'm going to be freaking out, because I have heard that if you sleep with your mouth open that there is a chance that a spider will crawl in it, and we get these big ugly brown ones this time of year!!!

Post About the Keto sticks...

If you are drinking all that water, your sticks won't turn much in color, I drink 3-4 liters of water myself and those sticks never turned darker than palest pink and I'm in Ketosis.
The mouth taste and the appitite supression is the best bet to tell if you are in Ketosis.. well to me that is.

Default Muck Mouth-Green Tea Helps Keto Breath

I also have been experiencing the dry mouth for quite some time and I am in ketosis. Ea time I get up in the night I have to take a swig of my bottled water on the nightstand. Which in turn, prob. causes me to get up even more frequently to pee. Neverending cycle....From that my breath also isn't the greatest.

Wanted to pass along this article I read about Green Tea helping bad breath, from "Woman's World, The Woman's Weekly" of May 13, 2003 issue.

Worried About Your Breath? Have a Cup of Tea!
"When University of British Columbia researchers recently tested mints, gum and other popular badbreath remedies against an unproven folk cure -- GREEN TEA-- they found that green tea was more effective than anything else at killing the bacteria and volatile sulfur compounds (VSC) that cause halitosis. In fact, chewing gum and minutes actually increased the amount of VSC! reports dental researcher Carl Spiegel, DDS. For the freshest breath, Dr. Spiegel recommends drinking a cup of hot or iced green tea after meals or whenever you feel you need fresher breath0and don't forget to swish before swallowing he advises"

I tried it and it works; its even good without sweetener and full of antioxidants, good for your health!

Very interesting about the green tea. There's another little snippet here that refers to it.

Dear WeeOne,

Don't worry about the spiders, I believe they are very low in carbs

Sorry, bad joke, couldn't resist it.
