Default Always tired

I am 5'10", 198. Looking for 185

I have been l-carbing for about 6 weeks now. 20+lbs down and absolutely zero cravings.

The only cheating I have done is 2-3 drinking nights but even then I drank gin and stayed away from beer.

I strictly limit myself to 20 carbs a day, take a good multivitamin, drink an amazing amount of water (180-240 oz/day), maintain a 70%fat/25%protein/5%carb ratio, have a 3-4 cup salad every night, keep my cals to 1600-2000/day etc.

Anyway, I am always tired and I have bags under my eyes. In desperation I have started taking an ECA stack the last couple of weeks just to keep going. I can't figure it out. I just crash every night around 8:00pm and wake up tired the next day.

I thought it might be from the amount of steak I was eating (almost everyday) so I cut that out but I am still inordinately tired and I don't sleep well.

I have tried other diets and have not always lived the healthiest lifestyle but I have never been this consistently tired. I am otherwise very healthy....any ideas????

thanx

Hi, and welcome,

I think the vitamin may be the problem. I noticed that when I ran out of Atkins Basic #3 vitamin and substuted a daily multivitamin, I felt lousy. You should be having more energy, not less with the Atkins diet. I am not sure about the alcohol though.

This is what I take each day, and I feel great:

Atkins Basic #3 - three times a day
Atkins Dieter's Advantage - two twice a day
Atkins Essential Oils - twice a day
CoQ10 - 300 mg. a day

Sandy

I'm not sure what kind of veggies you eat or what variety, but maybe you're short on potassium.

Also, if you work out, you probably need more carbs to avoid fatigue. Some folks on the exercise forums have rather high carb counts and are still losing.

My $0.02... Congrats on your success so far!

What is your caloric intake? How much of your diet is fat? Could you post a day's sample menu?

Oh no not the steak. Put that back in your diet right now young lady! When I am tired, I know that my potassium is low. Get a good potassium supplement. I take 3 pills daily, when I remember, and I feel great the next day. Really consider this if you're legs are cramping or you are noticing heart palpitations. Magnesium/calcium are also good supps.
