Default Horrible Horrible

OK I've waited to weigh myself in weekly and to my horror I have gained 3 lbs since my last weigh in. What happened? Does this mean I should go back on strict induction? Lately, I have been allowing myself almonds. Except for the nuts, I don't think that I have broken any induction rules.

Typical menu:

Breakfast - Advantage Bar

Lunch - Chicken with salad or steamed or stir-fried veggie

Dinner - Small portion of protein and salad

Plenty of water and no caffeine.

I want to be at about 120lbs by 12/15/02. Is this goal unrealistic considering that I was at 133lbs now? Please help. Does anyone have advice to boost weight loss?

From looking at the menu you posted, I notice 2 things:
1- the advantage bars are huge stallers for some people
2- you're not eating enough. The bars are not a meal replacement. Also a small portion of protein & salad isn't a very big source of calories.

A goal of 120 by mid December is asking a lot. This isn't a quick weight loss diet. People who are as close to their goal weight as you are do not lose as quickly as those with a lot to lose. Do you just want to lose the weight & go back to eating the same way you were before? If so, it's likely you'll gain the weight back.

You definitely need to increase your calories. Many people don't lose when they don't eat enough, even though it sounds crazy. You don't need to steam your veggies, butter the heck out of them! Eat lots of good fats, it's what this WOE is all about.

Dear Mochadaw,

120lbs is only 54kilos. That's very light. Are you being realistic?

On reading your menu two things stuck me:
1. She's not getting enough breakfast.
2. She's not eating enough.
I would suggest you give up the advantage bar for breakfast. Try bacon and eggs - fried in olive oil. Why steamed? Why 'small' portion? You are not supposed to restrict your calories or your body wil think you are starving and cling to your fat for dear life.

I suggest you eat a bit more - increase the fats and protein and yes, cut out the nuts for a while.

Regards,

Robert

Oh well Mochadaw. At least you now have two similar opinions.

Good luck,

Make that 3

I third everything Robert and Melissa have already recommended and I have this to add: weight fluctuates. Your weight can change by many lbs over the course of the day and by just as many over the course of the week. Don't take the number you get from the scale very seriously.

Have you taken measurements? Measurements will give you a better understanding of what is actually happening with your body. It's very common when you eat LC to lose inches but not scale weight.

I found the same type of gain when I was having an advantage bar at night. I cut those out and I'm back into gradually losing again. I find Fitday a valuable tool as it tells me when I'm getting enough calories and that my % of fat, protein and carbs is where it should be.
