Talking So glad I found u ..& a few quessies on induction

Hi everyone!!
I am so glad to be here !!
Can someone please help with a few questions I have on induction ??
I first started 2 months ago but as I was already at me ideal weight did not follow induction to the letter (ie. added nuts, s'berries, NC DLee Choc etc) & therefore actually gained 3 kgs.
I am now seriously attempting again & need a bit of advise pls:
Is any bacon suitable on induction, I have only founds ones that contain sugar, nitrate or maltodextrin??
I noticed that the BBQ chooks in some supermarkets are marinated with sugar, I am assuming that ALL tyes of sugar are off limits?
I found a mayo with apple cider vineagar as an ingrediant .. is this allowed?(sorry strange quessie I know!)

I would appreciate any advice, I seem to be losing very little if at all at the moment & am trying to be really careful.
Thx very much!

If I read this right? ....you are saying that you were at goal weight already and still went on atkins to lose weight? I have no idea how this would woe would effect you...........afterall, it is to lose weight. But, Maybe I misunderstood you?

Atkins recommends any bacon without all that...however, I have never found on without all that and use regualar.

You are suppose to avoid anything with sugar.

I really have no idea about this one. Although, I am thinking that apple cider vinegar has sugar in it? YOu may need to check about this one to be sure.

As i said before if you have very little to lose....(or none at all?)....I wish I knew before I could give you better advice. If you are at ideal weight and trying to start off with induction I would not recommend it....however, if you are trying to chang your woe..than perhaps awol would be better.

Default let me explain...

hopefully I can clear things up..
Upon first starting induction a few months ago I was very close to my ideal weight but wanted to swap to Atkins from my No-fat, No-taste previous diet. I thought that induction would be a useful place to start to rid myself of all my previous carb cravings.... now that I have actually put on 3kgs I am on Induction "for real" Hope this makes sense!!

Oh! ok, I get it now. The way I understand it is that the less you hav to lose...the slower it is going to come off. Ahve you read the book??? If not, at the minimum check out this site:

Atkin's Induction Rules

Maybe rereading that will clear up some questions for you!

HTH!

I hope I don't come across as rude... but is 3kg really such a big deal in the greater scheme of things? Most people tend to find that their body has a few kg range which it is comfortable in and you fluctuate between them.

The Atkins book suggests that if you want to follow his plan and don't need to lose any weight you should start off at about 60g of carbs per day from natural sources such as berries and whole grains.. not fake chocolate (although I keep on getting stuck on the chocolate myself )

Give it a little while longer, your body will get used to eating differently and will settle down all by itself at a weight it thinks is ideal, it just might not be a round number

Apple Cider Vinegar is great stuff - just keep an eye on the total carb count for the mayo.. most of the sugar free/"acceptable" brands have *less* than 1-2g carbs per serve.

Can't help you much on the bacon though, I've never really considered the small amounts of sugars/nitrates to be a huge problem.. but I don't eat it everyday

Hi there,
Point taken.. & No I don't think you're being rude. Any weight gain was a shock as I couldn't explain why.
I also read in the book to start at 60gms rather than induction, but in another section I thought they said that induction was important to break cravings & even if there was only a little weight to lose it would be beneficial.

Not to worry, things are back on track thankfully & I am moving through to premaintenance soon. Thanks for your comments guys!!
