Talking Cheaper Way to Buy Atkins Brand Products

I recently went to a Wal-Mart by my mom's house (about an hour from me) and found Advantage Bars for $1.50 a piece and Atkins supplements about $5.00 cheaper a bottle than what GNC sells them for. I prefer to go to GNC and like the flavor selection of the bars better than Wal-Mart. So I called GNC and told them about Wal-Mart's prices and they said no problem! All I did was take a receipt to GNC from Wal-Mart and GNC has a policy that they have to meet any one else's prices! So now I get the selection and convienence of GNC at low price!

I'll keep that in mind. There are no Wal-Marts in my immediate vicinity, so I think the gasoline cost would cancel out any benefit I got from the lesser prices at Wal-Mart. But when I go visit my parents or in-laws, there might be a Wal-Mart nearby!!! Then I could get a receipt from there and take it to my GNC.

It didn't work at my local GNC. They just said, "I don't know how they sell them so low." They never offered to match the price at all. So I told him I'd continue to get my Atkins stuff at Walmart. Mind you, Walmart doesn't sell the bake mixes so I still have to go to GNC for those!

It is GNC's company policy they have to match cheaper prices if you have something like an ad or receipt that you can give GNC.

hcomeau, do you have to be a GNC member for the price match? I couldn't see any reference to price matching on their website.

I'm not a member and they still match the price. I don't think they advertise that they do this because they don't want to lose $.

GNC is still cheaper with their Atkins shakes than Wal-mart. Walmart's price here is $7.86 for a 4-pack, but GNC has theirs for $7.99 PLUS you get the additional 20% off with your Gold Card at the beginning of the month, which makes them $6.39.

Our GNC never mentioned about price matching to Wal-mart (and they are right next door). They just said "oh" when I mentioned it.

The breakfast bars are also cheaper at GNC. Wal-mart's are $5.43 a box and GNC's are $4.59 with the Gold Card.

Personally the Gold Card is wayyyy worth the money you pay for it ($15 a year)...I've saved a lot of money with it. Plus they have a larger variety of flavors of things. They now carry a LOT of non-Atkins low carb items. I picked up some Granola at net 1 carb the other day and it's pretty tasty. They also carry the la tortillas for a lot less than what you can buy online.

The Walmart near where I live (Buena Park, CA) has a really good selection of Atkins products and they seem to be adding more on a regular basis. Everything is also about half the price of the grocery stores, but I'm not sure about GNC since they are way to overpriced to begin with (just my opinion). This is a newer store, so that might make a difference since I don't know if all the stores have a "low carb" section.

Unhappy Atkins Products

Unfortunately for me GNC is over an hour away. I have a local wal-mart but they are always out of Atkins products - I really like the morning start bars - but can never find them. I live in a small town in Kansas approx. 12,000. Our local supermarket doesn't carry ANY low carb foods. Any other suggestions?

My local GNC charges $9.99 for the shakes so apparently the prices differ from store to store. I'll have to ask about the price matching though. Thanks for the info!

kstornado....I'm just surprised you have a Walmart out there! I used to live in Winfield, and I know that area quite well...my guess is that you're probably referring to a GNC in Wichita...it would be a little more than an hour away.

I'm thinking...perhaps your best bet would be to try to order online....perhaps do a search for Atkins products, or check with www.lowcarbluxury.com . Some stores also let you special order certain items...you might suggest that, and see if you can get one to try it.

I hope this helps!

Hi to a fellow Kansan, kstornado, I live just west of Wichita. Perhaps you could ask the department manager of your local Wal Mart when their shipment of Atkins products arrives. They might even hold some back for you till you can make it to the store. All they can do is say they won't hold any.
