I just bought it today. It wasn't supposed to be out till March but it looks like the publisher decided otherwise (I work in a Bookstore).

Can't wait to sit down with it this weekend. I have definitely decided that this will be a WOL for me, so I'm looking for all the help and support I can find.

Books a Million has it 30% off.

I purchased it at Costco last week. It came with a small purse size carb counter booklet and the adkins cookbook. I have found it very helpful. There are some differnces, like the first book he had said Induction should be 0 carbs this one says 20. A little more info in the different things that can be hindering your weight loss. I would say it was worth it.

I asked about his Newest Book was told it was coming out til March!
I'd been using the old one.
Oh well.
Out of curiosity, how much was Costco charging for it.

Thanks

I believe it was $24.99, that was for all three books though. When I was checking out the girl said she didn't even know they had those in and there were only about 4 on the table, perhaps they got them early, I was after the cookbook but when they had all 3 together I thought it was a good deal.

Is the new book much different than the previous books?

What I really want to know is the new book worth buying?

As far as I know, the 3 pack someone mentioned is NOT the new book. That is the latest DANDR, the cookbook, and a carb counter (correct me if I'm wrong).

And yes, the new Atkins for Life was supposed to be out in March, but the publisher changed its mind. Regular price is $24.95, and it's about maintaining more than losing.

There were a few copies up for auction on ebay pretty cheap the other day.

Don't know if this helps or not, but you could check it out.

Also, re: the reviewing who mentioned his first book (probably referring to DANDR, not his early 1970's version) says 0 carbs on induction I think might have interpreted something differently, as it's generally understood that his DANDR book (e.g. all version of his book since at least the early 1990's) have advocated up to 20 grams of carbs during induction (not zero grams).

Soooo, has anybody who read his early DANDR read a good portion of his new FIT FOR LIFE to be able to share what's different 'n new?

Amazon's selling it for around $17 (plus shipping).

I saw the book at Coles in BCE Place in Toronto on Friday. It costs around $35 in Canada. Thinking of picking up a copy after pay day.

Okay, I've read/skimmed through it this weekend. It is for maintenance, after you've lost weight. It talks about eating all sorts of foods and has recipes which include real grains.

I won't be referencing yet it myself, but it would be a good guide for feeding the family who isn't converting to the lowest carb regime (i.e. induction).

Thumbs up Atkins for Life book

Finally bought the book "Atkins for Life" this week. It appears to be designed for those who are in pre-maintenance or maintenance phases.

Has been beneficial to me. I am just entering pre-maintenance, but having troubles getting going. Psychologically hard to put those extra carbs into my mouth - and when I started, I over did it! See my latest Journal entry.

I'd recommend it to anyone who is nearing pre-maintenance, or anyone who has already lost the weight & doesn't want to regain it.

I like the chapter in the book that deals with food choices in the groups. He divides the food into "Eat Regularly, Eat in Moderation, and Eat Sparingly." Good guide to help as make choices in the real (not concerned about losing weight) world of low-carbing. I suppose I'm about ready to shift into pre-maintenance, and haven't really been counting every little carb, and it's nice to have a guide for the best choices to make.

One thing that annoys me is how almost every recipe has low-carb bread in it. Seems like they could have gotten a tad more creative, but maybe one day I will be eating a lot of low carb bread? Doubt it.

Anyway, it's worth at the very least picking up and browsing through.
