Default Is diet pop OK?

I love me some Diet Mountain Dew or Diet Code Red or Diet Pepsi. I know there are no carbs and no "sugars" in these sodas...but is there anything hidden? Can I go ahead and drink these diet sodas?

Thanks for your help guys.

Hiya

They are sweetened with various artificial sweeteners. Some people react to them, some don't. Your mileage may vary - give it a shot and see what happens. Just remember, all things in moderation

Good luck!

Default Diet Drinks without aspertame FOUND!

I just found some diet cola drinks at our local Dollar General store made by Clover Valley; they have no aspertame; they use sucralose (which is whats in splenda).
They taste pretty good. I'm a Diet Coke-aholic and I'm trying to get off of the aspertame. They kind of taste like diet shasta type cokes to me but that I can deal with as opposed to not drinking coke at all!!
I'm giving it a try. They come in both cans and 2 liter bottles.
(They also sell no aspertame flavored water which I think tastes great!)

Other soft drinks sweetened without Aspartame include "Waist Watcher" brand by Adirondack and "Diet Rite", which is always near the RC Cola.

Anything with caffeine and aspartame is technically verboten, although many continue to indulge.

I like Diet Rite a great deal, though.

Default Don't work for me

I had to give up diet drinks altogether; discovered after a while that the sweet taste was setting up an insulin reaction that made me want to keep eating after I was full. Now I drink selzer water for the bubbles and taste when I get tired of regular water.

Sounds like you might be drinking a lot of caffeine, and that can affect your appetite. Atkins says no caffeine, which can be brutal on a high-consumer. I ignored him on this, but I'm only drinking one cup of coffee so I can rationalize it.

YMMV.

Hi Todzilla:

Welcome to the forum! I have been drinking diet sodas (Diet Code Red and Diet Sunkist are my favorites) since induction and it doesn't seem to phase my weight loss. I have cut down to only about two a day though. I worry more about the caffiene than the artificial sweetener. You know, I am finding out more and more that this WOE is really different for everyone. Stick to the basics (20 carbs or less per day, no cheating) and toy around with the caffiene, artificial sweeteners, alcohol etc to find the best solution for you. Good luck! mad
