Default Carb levels during spin/weight training

Hello All,

I would like to get your views on carb levels during spin training. I have lost 52 lbs since Aug 19th 2003 using Atkins and general cardio. I am getting much more intense and adding resistance training 2x/week in addition to spin 3x/week.

Have you all upped your carb intake to improve your performance and recovery? I am currently at induction level of carb intake.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. I am training for a biathalon at the end of March but I still have about 20 lbs to lose.

Thanks,
Denis

Hi there. Well, here's my two cents: what works for one person might not work for the next. Personally, I've upped my carbs to 40-50 grams per day to coincide with my heavy workouts and I am still losing. Some days I even go higher, but no where near the hundreds I was eating per day prior to this WOE. I had a really hard time maintaining my workouts when I was doing lower carbs - I felt tired and weak. Now I have plenty of energy and feel fabulous. Just gotta find what works best for you!

Also, watch the kind of carbs you eat.. I notice when I eat complex carbs, I do better in exercise. Also, it is better for you! GOod luck!
