Default whole flaxseeds?

Hi there!

I just had my first taste of flaxseeds, and I must say that I actually like them !
My question is, do I have to grind the seeds to get maximal benefits? If not, I'll stick to taking them straight from the spoon.
Also, the label says 13g. of carbs per 1/4 cup, with 7g. of soluble fiber. Could this be right?
Thanks!

Yes, you grind them in a coffee grinder into an almost powdery state. Thery are delicious sprinkled on a salad, in yogurt or eaten as cereal.

My doctor told me to eat 5 T a day for the best benefits and he cautioned me not to use very hot water if I was making cereal. He actually suggested just putting milk and splenda on it and eating it cold. But, I like to use warm tap water and a little splenda--milk doesn't agree with me.

Some people reported that they cooked this flax meal in the microwave, but my doctor told me that very hot water will change those good omega 3 oils into harmful trans fats.

Thanks Atrsy!
I'll try it in cereal form. Also, I've read that taking it as an oil is a good idea, since you avoid the unnecessary carbs. Maybe in my tuna at lunch...
I was wondering, just how much oil should I take daily?
Thanks for your replies.
7 months on LC WOE and loving it!!!
