Default Atkins Ketone Sticks Info

To those of you who purchase and use Doc Atkins' Ketone testing sticks, buyer beware. They are NOT good for six months, and there is no way they are good until the expiration date that is listed on the bottle. This is the second time I have purchased these things, and they are good for exactly 2 weeks. Now, there are 100 strips in a bottle, that is about 12 cents per strip. I use 2 per day, that is 28 strips that I have used. Since they last for 2 weeks, that is about 43 cents each.

This is just FYI. I have yet to see the "seal" on the bottle, that is not supposed to be broken. Anyone else notice this??

P.S. I am not knocking the use of the sticks, I am just saying that buying these things may get to be too expensive.

Neither are Scientific brand keto test strips. Two bottles of mine - - tightly capped and kept in bedroom not bathroom - - went bad (test pad turned gray...no changes in color) after 1 month of opening each. The best, and longest lasting test strips that I have used are the Bayer Ketostix. 50 for $10.00 but they last (had one bottle for 6 mos). So just because you get a bargain does not mean longevity!

I also use Bayer Ketostix. Never have had a problem with them. They used to keep them stocked on the shelves at CVS and Rite-Aid in this area, but now you must ask the pharmisist (sorry about spelling) for them. I heard they are having problems keeping them in stock!!

I use them at least once a day - they help me stay focused!!

Well holy cow, I bought those stix and wondered why I could never get them to register anything. I wonder if i got a bad batch as well. I can follow Atkins to the letter and KNOW I'm in ketosis, and never even get trace. How disappointing. Thanks for letting us know.

I just bought some of these strips from Netrition.com.. i will receive them tomorrow.. it was 2 bottles of 50. Both me and my work buddy will be using a bottle each. Now you are saying you guys use 2 a day??
In the morning and before bed?

I've found the Bayer product to be consistently reliable.

Always follow the directions on the package carefully. Some brands of ketone testing strips require you to wait for 2 whole minutes before taking the reading, while others only 15 seconds.

The last batch of sticks that I got from Atkins turned bad with in two weeks! I have not even got to use them yet! With with keeping them in my bedroom. I wont get them from there anymore. Now I get Thinz brand from Walmart, they work a lot better.
