Default New to Forum, started Atkins on April 12th

Hi All,

I was always a skinny person in my youth. But every since I got married last year, I have been putting on the weight and my waist size continues to grow. I have gotten to a point where I feel disgusted with my belly and want to do something about it.

A co-worker of mine did the Atkins diet and he lost his belly and the weight that he wanted to I thought I would give it a try.

I started that Atkins diet on April 12th at 222lbs. By April 16th I was weighing in at 215lbs so I have lost 7 pounds in 5 days. Today April 23rd I am still at 215lbs and seem to be stuck there.

During my first week my diet was comprised of:
Breafast; 3 to 4 eggs
Lunch; can of tuna or salmon
Dinner; can of tuna or salmon
and for snacks, I ate some low carb bars.

During my second week I change my diet to
Breakfast; 3 to 4 eggs and sausgages
Lunch; hamburger patty or can of tuna
Dinner; hamburger patty, can of tuna or some chicken
and for snack, I ate some low carb bars and weiners.

I read that sausages and weiners were no good so I stopped eating them. It seems that I lost weight during my first week but not my second. I drink a lot of water all the time. Should I go back to my first weeks diet? The reason why I switched it to a different diet during the second week was because I read that I need to eat a lot of fat.

What do you suggest?

The low carb bars seem to stall people as well, myself included. Try cutting those out of your diet for awhile and see how that works. You should also try adding some veggies and salad.

Hi. What I would do is follow the "mom rule": no low carb junk food unless you've eaten ALL of your veggies. If veggies don't appeal to you, check out our Veggies and Side Dishes forum. You'll find something you like.

Weiners and other processed meats are okay, but the best idea. Check the label carefully, there should only be a gram or two of carbs per serving.

Good luck!
