Talking Becoming a believer !!!

Hi there.
Just thought I would introduce myself, and say hello.

I just started this whole LC lifestyle in September after trying Weight Watchers
for 25 weeks. I did quite well on it but I like everyone else had a heck of a time trying to keep track of points and it was soooo discouraging loosing a .5 at a time. Soooooo after giving friends of mine a hard time for doing the DANGEROUS Atkins Diet I decided to pick up the books and read up on what this
whole lifestyle is about. I have to say it really makes sence. I seriously put my foot in my mouth aknowledging that. And after many apologies to my dear friends for giving them such a hard time I am happy to say that I decided to
jump on the band wagon and try it for myself.

Sooo.. here I am 10lbs lighter after 4 weeks and I really must say I feel pretty darn good. I have been in a stall for the last week 1/2 or so but I am not going to give up I just keep waiting for that WHooosh. I had one after my third week soo I know it happens. During my third week I dropped nothing
( per my weigh in on the Saturday) But when I woke up that Sunday morning I just felt lighter and I was !!!! 5 lbs lighter. So I am convinced this will happen again ! Pleeeeease let it happen again !! *laughs.

Anyhow... the encouragement I have received just reading posts and the success stories are amazing. I will be here often.

Thank you for being the encouragement I need!!!

Becoming a believer....

Mickey

Hi Mickey! Welcome, welcome. Don't feel bad...there are a lot of folks out there that have some very serious misconceptions about Atkins and low-carbing. At least you read the book and educated yourself so that you know the facts.

Congratulations on your weight loss! It's normal for it to slow after the first few weeks. A true stall occurs when you go for 6 weeks and don't lose any inches or pounds so you haven't got a problem so far. Are you measuring yourself? Atkins makes you lose inches like no diet I've ever seen (and believe me, I've tried them all) even when the scale isn't showing a loss.

We are happy to have you here with us and I will send the whoosh fairy your way if I see her!

Hi, and welcome! Just to let you know, you're not the only one who thought this plan made sense--and I still think it does, LOL. I was also on WW years back and had weight loss just about like you, about a half-pound a week. I was all the time hungry and hated the meetings and forking out my weekly fees so they could draw it out even longer so I'd have to pay more money. It's a plot, I tell you, an evil plot!

Anyhow, I've been at this a week tomorrow and so far have lost about 5 pounds, and I declare but the pants I wore this evening already felt looser! I couldn't hardly believe it! One daughter said, 'Well, maybe they were stretched out a bit,' and I said, 'No, these were just freshly washed!' When I saw one of my sisters yesterday from the week before she said she could notice I'd lost weight, and that just seems ridiculous at my size to notice a 5-pound weight loss. But am I complaining? ABSOLUTELY NOT!!

I know exactly what you mean !!!! Its crazy! I was the same. One week my pants fit the next week they did not ! And your right people do notice.
I'm not going to complain either. Somewthing is obviously working.
Again.. I'm just urging that Whoosh fairy in my direction again !

I have not measured myself. I know I should have. I guess I am going to rely on the the "curves " measurements that I had taken. If I can ever get my motivation back to go. *laughs* One day at a time I keep telling myself. I'm not going to push it. I do notice the inches coming off though, which is why I don't think this stall is getting the better of me.

I think my inches must be coming off in places where I don't really measure, because my clothes seem looser except in the waist, which of course is the measurement I'm obsessed with .

You said you were "a believer" and I do think there is an element of faith to this diet. When my weight loss slows I am so tempted to cut back on calories (of course, isn't that how we lose weight??) but most of the time I use my faith to let me eat more, and in particular, more fat. I find I lose better eating hamburger than chicken and fish. It's a mystery but I'm also a believer.

When I tell folks that I'm less than 5 feet tall, consume around 1700 calories a day and lose weight I get these "yeah, right" looks you wouldn't believe. It even takes ME by surprise sometimes. The first time I put my daily menu into Fitday I just about freaked out. Jeesh - this is more calories than most women would even DREAM of eating a day. But, yeah, that's enough to make a believer out of you.
