Default Hello all! New to Atkins!

First a little about myself.

31 years old, happily married, 2 year old son,
my wife is due this Friday with our second son.

Anyways, when I graduated high school, i was a slim and trim 165 lbs. I'm 5'11 inches.

At present I'm 265lbs.

I started the Atkins diet 2 weeks ago and have lost 10 pounds already.(Down from 275lbs).

My goal is back down to 170 lbs but I think i'd be happy with 180lbs.

Simply put, I got tired of looking in the mirror everyday and seeing the equivalent of almost another person attached to me. I was tired of not being able to go to the beach and take off my shirt without the fear of being harpooned.

I started thinking about my family and the potential health problems associated with weight-diabetes and heart disease along with the potential heart attack.

All the other diets I've tried(like the slimfast shakes and 2000 calorie diets) just didn't cut it.

So I figured I'd buy the Atkins book as everyone I've spoken to who's been on it or is currently on it swears by it.

It's been great so far and I've already lost 10 pounds in approx 2 weeks! The cravings were bad for me the first few days but they quickly subsided.

I am committed to this diet and will not stop until I reach my goal. I already feel energetic and sleep very well at night(no tossing and turning or getting up every couple of hours).

I can already notice the loosening of my shirts and pants.

So I just wanted to introduce myself(I've been lurking for awhile, doing research and reading the good Doctors book).

Good luck to all of you and I will be around!

Isn't all this energy great! My first week I thought this was the worse diet ever, the next week my energy kicked in and all cravings were 100% gone.
Your off to a great start. Keep it up, just one day at a time.
I've lost 34 pounds and I'm now just getting to were you started at. I love a good challenge, How about a race to see who gets to the 180's first.
There is so much help out here. If you have any questions just ask, someone will always have an answer for you.
My wife did Weight Watchers for years. They have a saying that I've adopted. " Nothing taste as good as being thin feels "
Oh yes and Welcome.

Hello RobD1234, since you are just starting, try to take some key measurements. This is the one thing I really regret not doing. Because it can come in handy during those times ahead when the movement on the scale is more like an unwelcome "hover" than the much-preferred "downward movement." Congrats to you and your wife on your son on the way. Happy LCing!!!
