Post Atkins Menus at TGIF Restaurants

I hear from another board that Atkins Menus are being provided at US
branches of TGIF restaurants.

http://www.tgifridays.com/menu/healthymenu.htm

I telephoned my own branch here in Southampton and they were quite
snooty when I asked them if they were going to have those menus here.

SO ... I have emailed TGIF directly! I pointed out that they
could corner the British low carb restaurant market if they extended their
Atkins Menus to the UK. Anybody else feel like emailing to show
solidarity? The address is internetmail~fridays.com.

A little off your topic, but wanted to say I saw the new Friday's menu options today and had the sizzling chicken for lunch today. OH YUM!! Very tasty
And so nice to be able to order a menu item without adding a million modifiers (no this, sub that, no this, etc.)

Default TGI Friday's

You may have already heard that TGI Friday's now have an Atkins-approved section in their menu:

http://www.fridays.com/menu/healthymenu.htm
(Love the fact that they've named the page 'healthymenu' )

I'm not sure whether this will be available in the UK, but I have just emailed them to ask if it will be.

Perhaps if enough of us were to do so, then they might actually take some notice and extend this menu to the UK

You can contact them at internetmail~fridays.com
(or see: http://www.fridays.com/contact.htm)

I've just sent them an e-mail as well. Hopefully something positive will happen as I used to love TGI's but don't go there as much cos of all the sugar in their sauces etc.

Default I've done my bit

I've whizzed off an email. I used to visit Fridays with friends but haven't been for years. I went to another "American" style restaurant recently and there was so little I could have because it was so much on fries, tortillas, etc and burger option meant paying for a refusing fries and the bun I had to have a steak (that's suffering) but it was not brilliant for the price.

Anyway, the more organisations that adopt low-carb options the easier life will be especially when eating out in high-carb company.

They've just replied to me (it took them how long ! ) and OMG what a canned response! (my original message below just to prove I wasn't asking an obscure question!) :-

Thank you for your interest in our new menu selections. We are very excited
about out partnership with Atkins. We understand there are many different
ways to control what you eat and a variety of other types of dietary
choices. We will continue to look for the best ways to provide those choices
to our guests. This is only the first phase launched with Atkins. All of
our restaurants in the United States are offering the Atkins menu
selections. Thanks again!!

Sincerely,

Subject: Atkins menu UK?

Hi there,

Do you have any plans to introduce the Atkins menu to Fridays
restaurants in the UK?

Thanks

Have also just received the same reply. So, have emailed back thanking them for their response and asking if perhaps they could now answer my original question!

I hope you have luck with Fridays in the UK. I just returned from a 5 week stay and finding enough of the right kind of foods to eat was a NIGHTMARE. Most nights I went back to my room starving. By the middle of the fourth week I gave up and started eating bread and some potatoes just to get enough to eat. Anyone who has to eat out in the UK and can stick to Atkins is bound to lose weight. Even with the bread and potatoes I lost 5 lbs!! I realize Dr. Atkins has a terrible reputation in the UK, thanks to all those misinformed articles written by "health experts" who have never bothered to read his book. I wish all of you the best of luck and plan to send Fridays an e-mail as well.
