Default Chunky

I am at a point now that I do not register obese on the BMI scales, I am now overweight... or like my mom says: Chunky Chubby. I have restarted induction after a 7wk vacation doing maintenance like levels. My problem is that I am starting to really like this whole chunky thing..it is almost like I am scared to go down more--to regular size. Has this happened to anyone?

If you and you rbody feel comfortable at your present weight then maintain. If you can remember a time in your adulthood when you were lighter and more comfortable then you can aim for that if you want.

The important thing is to be healthy, enjoy life and feel comfortable with your body.

You look great now and 140 at 5'3 is certainly not overweight, so if you are comfortable where you are don't worry about losing more. It's all up to you. Congratulations on your weight loss...your before and after pics are inspiring!

I really think that if you are happy than that's all that matters!!!

140 lbs at 5'3" is not really 'chunky chubby'......it's a healthy, normal weight for you!

You look fantastic in your pictures!

Congratulations!!!!!

I'm 5'2 and 136 and I know how you feel. I have been the same for about a month. I feel good and I am in a size 10 clothes (the smallest in a long time.) I do still have a big spare tire around my middle from two c-sections, so I am not going to focus on a target number for weight, but I am going to increase my exercise and keep my carbs moderate and see where things go.

Thanks for the replies. My doctor insists that I lose another 10-15 lbs. I am going to try but I am not going out of my way. My focus (like mcastle) is now to excercise and get fit, and continue with this WOE. I am supposed to go on a 30km (18miles) bike tour with a friend in two weeks and need to start training for that. I live on the fourth floor of a building with no lift and I used to have to pause at the second floor, and I still ended up totally breathless by the time I made it up! So Atkins has certainly changed my life!

cheers to all

I have been hanging at 140 for about 6 weeks now. I am still eating low-carb but I've been far from an . I am calling it a "voluntary stall" because really I needed to see that I can do this long term. And I needed time to adjust how I see myself. I lost 20 pounds and quit smoking within 2 months.

I have exactly maintained the 140... no daily fluctuation. Isn't that weird? Without trying too hard. But I am finally ready to see the scale move again, so I will be restarting induction next week.

Your bike tour sounds like a blast. If you are active and your BP and lipids are healthy, I don't see how your doctor can insist you lose more. But it sounds like you are on the right track anyway.

Our stats are very similiar (well, except that I haven't lost the weight yet). I don't think you should have ever registered as obese if your top weight was 160 something. I never did (maybe I lied and put in 5'4, though. I do that a lot. I'm not sure who I'm trying to fool.)

When I was skinny before, I started to look gaunt when I dropped below 140. Although, being skinny, I never weighed myself, so I'm not sure how much below 140 I was. I don't think much, though.

That said, if you feel healthy and energetic, you should stay the weight you're happy with.

hey gaijingal: our stats are really similiar, I lost almost 20 lbs before I started Atkins, I was about 180 and I am small boned.... My dr. considered me obese. I tend to carry my weight in the hip/thigh area so that is why I am starting to focus more on excercise rather than diet, I think I would be happy at about 135 and I am even thinking about just sticking to 140!! I'll see........................

I think 140 is awesome...and you have done great. I have actually just lowered my goal to 145 and I am 5'3...I think this will be challenging to maintain so I will see how I feel and look. My dr. does support me however, so that is great.

I still have a long way to go tho, but I look forward to being in your shoes!

Good luck with your decision...and I would not allow your dr. to "force" you to lose additional weight if you feel comfortable.
