questions about carbs in flax seeds, and recipes
After almost two months on Atkins, I just discovered Fitday. I'm shocked to learn that my 1/4 cup flax seed count for 12 carbs every day. There's no way to eat 12 carbs in flax seed alone and stay within 20, or at least not for me. I love greens and cucumbers and so on. I checked and psyllium seeds seem to have far more carbs. What gives in terms of counting the carbs in these roughage providers? Do the carbs get subtracted because of fiber, but fitday doesn't do that?
Also, while I'm here, I'm constantly looking for new ways to entice myself to eat those ground golden flax seed. They are the one part of Atkins that I view with less than eagerness. I've made flax seed pancakes (great, but not every morning), flax seed cereal, flax seed in salads (not bad, but it does dim the enjoyment of that salad), even flax seed in mayo. I'd love suggestions.
