Default Fitday questions

Another question. I just joined Fitday, it seems wonderful. I don't understand how many calories that I am supposed to be getting. I remember seeing "basal" and "life style" which I guess refers to metabolic rates, but don't really know what to do with the ideas or even how to retrieve the page on which I saw this in fitday.
Also, I am mostly at my desk but do 35 -40 minutes of aerobics five day a week along with wight traing on the Nautilus equipment. So, how do I indicate this in Fitday, I chose the "housework" designation because I am fairly sedentary except for this exercise.
Thanks,
jane ellen

Hiya!

I agree, it's a tad tricky when choosing your activity level, but I don't think it's accurate enough to really make a difference. There are too many factors it doesn't take into account. It's just meant to allow you to make a general day-to-day comparison.

As for how many calories you should be consuming, the general rule of thumb is 10-12 times your body weight in pounds. Since you're active, you'll want to aim for the high end. Starve ye not, lest thy metabolism lower itself.
