Hi, Allen -

You can't PM until you've made 25 posts. I think it fosters that "no question is a dumb question" attitude and allows everyone to see all the questions and answers. So, keep posting and you'll be able to PM in no time.

Thanks Dani,
Don't understand the logic, but I'll go with
it; have no choice. Guess if all did that there would be no forum/
I'll ask you as yo are in Protein Power forum.
I read both and using both. Is the main divverence between the two the way carbs are counted? Seems fiber is not taken away in the atkins woe but it is in protein power. Thanks
allen

Allen,

I started out doing Atkins for two months, but then switched to PP to go with my Body For Life workouts and 6 daily meal requirements. I think in the new Atkins book, he does let you subtract fiber from your carb count, since fiber isn't metabolized like a carb. The Atkins approach also has more restricted food choices than PP until maintenance; PP allows more fruits, even crackers. I also think Atkins takes less planning to follow: eat your meats, eggs, cheeses and salads/leafy green veggies and you're set.

The main difference is that PP meals always have a ratio between protein and carbs. I would advise picking one plan and sticking with it for a month or two (give it a chance to work!) rather than picking parts from different plans and trying to put them together. If you want to do PP, you should go back and re-read the pages on daily menus and protein requirements to make sure you have the hang of it.

Dani

Hi Allen,

We had a long discussion on the subject a while ago. The link is here: Main Difference between Atkins and Protein Power?

To the right of the page under Quick Links is "Which low-carb plan is right for me?" that has comparisons of the various plans.
