Hi everyone! I am having the opposite problem of most people on this WOE. I am having a hard time keeping my calories DOWN!
I have been doing Atkins for 47 days. I have been in trace-moderate ketosis but am starving all the time. I drink no less than 150oz of water every day and take tons of supplements.
I have heard three different theories on calories and losing weight.
1. To lose weight, eat 10-12 x your body weight in calories. For me that is only 1115-1338 calories. (I weighed 111.5# this morning.)
2. Eat 10 x your GOAL weight. For me, my goal is 105#, so that would be only 1050 calories.
3. All my life I have heard that a person should never consume under 1200 calories, but I figure that is a number for the average 140-150# person. ???????
I am starving unless I eat closer to 2000 calories. My basal is only 1294, so 2000 calories is substantially higher than that. Plus, I sit most of the day and evening aside from 30-60 minutes on my stationary bike 5-6 days a week. I have no idea why I am so hungry all the time.
Should I force myself to eat less? I am losing REALLY slow, but I don't know if that is because I am within 10# of my goal weight or if maybe I am eating to much to lose.
Also, what is more important, calories or fat/protein ratio? I have read over and over that a lot of women lose better when they eat 80% fat and only 15% protein.
I use fitday to keep track of my calories and fat/protein/carb ratios. Some days I am above where I thinkmy calories should be, but my fat intake is lower than I would like. So, I eat macadamia nuts or something else really fatty to get the ratio right. But, that also adds a couple hundred calories.
I'm not sure if I should be more concerned about my calories or fat/protein intake. The book says not to worry about calories, but then later says that some people need to cut calories to lose. I don't know if I am one of those people or not.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!!!
PS: I don't know if it makes a difference, but I am being treated for hypothyroidism and my numbers are in a good range (TSH=1.9) right now.
