Default Sugar Alcohols in Log Cabin Syrup

Hi all. I'm new to this forum and have already gained so much help and insight.
I have read the articles on sugar alcohols and have also found more info elsewhere. However, I'm still confused. I have a bottle of Sugar-Free Log Cabin Syrup that lists the carbs as 12g all of which are coming from the sugar alcohols from Sorbitol and Maltitol. From what I've been reading, the syrup isn't exactly 0 carbs. I have a basic understanding of the chemistry of sugar alcohols, I just want to know if I need to consider the carbs.
Thanks!
SherylH

Hi! I'd help you, but no one is completely sure how sugar alcohols are metabolized. Apparently, they don't raise your blood sugar, but they can still stimulate an insulin response (IIRC.)

You're probably fine using them in small quantities, like a Tbsp or two of that syrup.

Thanks Kristine! The serving size says 1/4 cup which is probably what I would normally use on my cheese pancakes. I may use that 1-2 a week.
I appreciate the prompt response.
