Question Starting Monday, I want to quit Splenda for 2 weeks......

... is there anyone else out there willing to try with me?

I believe the Splenda may be responsible for my lack of weight loss -- maybe I am one of those people that reacts to sugar alcohols the same as sugar.

I gave up caffeine, I drink 80 to 100 ounces of water a day, exercise, stay within 20 carbs -- and nothing. Nada. Zip. Very frustrating.

I could really use some encouragement especially because I am feeling a little (ok, a lot) addicted to the Splenda.

What do you say? Anyone? Pretty please?

I am 100% off Splenda, but for different reasons -- for some reason it makes me break out horribly. But I have good news for you -- the first time I tried Atkins I consumed it every day, in shakes, iced tea, diet rite, LC foods, etc. The second time around I didn't have any artificial sweetener at all, and I found I didn't miss it. After a week and a half on Atkins with no splenda I tried it for a day or two, and found it wasn't all that great. I like my coffee better with just cream.

My point is just that after the initial change, you'll find you don't miss it as much as you thought you would (I was absolutely convinced I couldn't do atkins without splenda, and here I am).

Hi Lammie22!
By your stats it looks like you've lost 14lbs in about 1-2 months which, if this is enough is more than adequate and an excellent pace. Congratulations on that. Losing is not always very consistent...it can come in spurts. I also find that if my caloric intake get too high or too low it will stall me.
Splenda may be the culprit by I would look to the more fundamental things first like water consumtion, frankenfoods, caloric intake, exercise. On the other hand it can't hurt to eliminate Splenda so you could do that too.

Splenda isn't a sugar alcohol, but it does have fillers that are carby and make soem people react. Instead why not look into getting DaVincci syrups that don't have the fillers and pure stevia extract. The stevia takes practice to learn to use right, but it's a wonderful natural sweetner once you do get it down. Get the pure powdered extract with no fillers.
