Default Cheating Dreams--Literally!

I had a dream last night that I was tempted to cheat at a greasy spoon restaurant. I ordered a burger with bun and fries. Except I didn't really want them. I stared at them, picking through the fries. I remember being embarrassed to send them back to the chef, fearful of their opinion of me. But I didn't eat them, so I guess that's a good sign!

I just wonder if it's a little telling that I have a hard time standing up for myself in the big restaurant world. I need to stop being embarrassed to voice my special requests. Most of it is my desire not to inconvenience anyone. Is it just a matter of time?

Anyone else have cheating dreams?

Emily

The first few weeks of induction all of my dreams were food focused, usually about cheating. They were really strange one's too. Now that I am getting used to the diet a little more the dreams have stopped.

In the beginning I was just drifing off to sleep when I shouted out.. "I did really good today, I only had spaghetti for lunch!".. Don't ask me why.. I knew spaghetti was not allowed and I didn't even have spaghetti.. It woke me and my husband up and we both just lay there laughing.

Aww don't worry about making requests in restaurants. I'm always very upfront about what I can't eat and almost always they'll ask, 'hey are you on that atkins thing?' and when I answer yes, they practically sit down at the table with me asking me all kinds of questions about it. It happens a lot.

Thanks Missaec, for the encouragement!

I can be a bit shy when it comes to that stuff. Some wait staff are really good about it, I've experienced others who don't want to give the time of day. They react like you've just asked them to do some incredibly difficult thing. Oh well. I'll have to work on it! Thanks!

Ohio Kim,

That's hilarious! Only spaghetti, huh?! I've talked in my sleep too, always a little concerned what's gonna come out of my mouth!

I am SO glad I am not the only one who has these dreams. LOL

I have been doing this since last July and have 1 or 2 a month. Usually it is chocolate cake or German chocolate cake and a HUGE glass of whole milk.

I keep having reoccuring "nightmares" that I'm eating all these carbs. And then I wake up and I'm like......."ahhhh thank God it was only a dream". I thought I was losin' it. Oh well atleast I'm not alone...hee hee

I have dreams where I am cheating that are so real that when I wake up I'm guilty! I thought I was the only one!

...I don't yell out about pasta though

I had a dream where I was eating a pint of ice cream but I'd somehow figured out a way to eat it without absorbing the carbs... unfortunately it had its normal texture but no taste at all, like eating when you have a bad cold.

I wish I'd written down the technique for cancelling carbs! Sometimes texture is enough!

I also dreamed about eating ice cream, and woke up so relieved. In my dream I knew I was cheating on my diet. When I quit smoking, I kept dreaming about having a cigarette. I still dream that occasionally. I geuss that means I'll be having "sweet" dreams for a while.
