*sigh* .. Wish I could be there.

Sounds absolutely awesome. I love Greek food and flavours. I wonder if anyone will ever be able to create a low-carb spanakopita, that has a crispy coating without the wheat phyllo crust.

I've made a spinach-ricotta Greek-seasoned "thing" with chopped pine nuts in it, which was awesomely nummy, but still didn't have that crispy crusty "tooth".

*sigh*

Will be thinking of everybody ..

Thumbs up Sounds yummy Karen.

Wishing I lived in Vancouver right about now.

Thinking of The Fish House brings back a fond memory for me. It will be 3 years (maybe 4) this September that I travelled to BC to visit family in Victoria. On the way I stopped and stayed in Vancouver for 4 days. This was a big thing for me because even though I was 27/28 at the time I had NEVER spent any significant time by myself (large family etc.).

I was really nervous about eating out alone, sightseeing alone etc. Was I even going to enjoy my own company?!? But it was the best experience, my first meal alone was at The Fish House. I'd spent the afternoon exploring Stanley Park and stumbled upon this beautiful restaurant. I sat on the heated porch, nobody looked at me funny as I read my book. I had a fantastic seafood meal and the bartender made the best Amaretto sours I tasted whilw in Vancouver.

Just thought I'd share that story. I'll be there in spirit on April 24th.

Tiffany

Well, calamari is the Italian word for squid but for some reason, the word calamari is connected to deep fried squid. Why? Because it sounds better than deep fried squid!

Squid itself - like all shellfish - has a few carbs. 3.08 for 100 grams, or a bit over 3 oz.

I'm sorry to say that I don't have any suggestions for deep fried squid. It's a personal thing because I have completely lost my taste for anything deep fried.

Cooked and marinated or grilled squid is quite tasty, especially with oregano, garlic lemon and olive oil.

Yes! I try to get to every table during dessert but some people have to race out. I also give a little welcome talk before dinner.

I was wondering about the menu. My bf isn't an active low-carber, he tries to follow BFL, but not as religiously as he should. He may not opt to go for a set menu. Is it possible for him to order from the regular menu while I stick to the low-carb one myself?

Sorry Crimson, we don't do that for the LC dinner nights. One of the dining rooms is set aside and it's low-carb only - no bread, rice, potatoes, sugar or milk enters the dining room.

One of the reasons is that when other people see someone get something different from them, they wonder why they are treated "special" and the other diners are not. It leaves a bad feeling.

The other reason is simply that it's low-carb night and a safe haven for low-carbers who want to enjoy an interesting and purely low-carb dinner.
