I don't know about anyone else.. but I have an almost 10 month old who nurses.. hmm.. maybe 4-5 times a day.. I'm under 20carbs a day easily, and he's eating food during the day (3 meals)... I make sure he eats carby foods at least 2 of those meals... he's still gaining (our little chubb-chubb) and he's not fussing to not nurse or to nurse.. he's just the same as he was before. He was crying this week.. but he also had a tooth come in (his first top one, *sigh*).
While I was pg I was told to go off LC (ARGH!) and even with eating LOTS of carbs, I still went into ketosis... dark... for the last 2 months of my pregnancy, the docs had no reason for it.. just "one of those things". SO.. I don't think it's detrimental (my baby is fine and bright and healthy) at all.. I think ANY time someone tells you what you should eat, they put that disclaimer on it, to save themselves from lawsuits in case something unforseen happens... but I SERIOUSLY doubt lc'ing would hurt your baby. If you are very concerned, maybe get some powdered formula and give your baby a bottle ONE time a day (it's pretty high in carbs), just to be sure.. keep the powder in the freezer and it'll last a lot longer. But I don't think it is necessary.. honestly!
When in doubt, pray.
Blessings!
