On the 12th of August I was givin the Birth control shot at my 6 week check up after having my daughter...I know it's been said that it may cause people to gain weight...I haven't gained any...But was wondering if it may cause me to have a harder time losing...I've lost alittle since then but not as much as before I got it..

Probably. I gained some weight while on it, even though my diet hadn't really changed. So your hormones will be working against you, and it will be tougher to lose weight, but not impossible. I assume it's 'baby' weight you're losing? (Congratulations on your little one, btw! )

Sorry if I'm repeating myself; I think it might have been you to whom I just posted a similar reply.

Default About Depo

Hi mom2Mady... congrats on your little one. Our little one is now 11 1/2 mo. old, and quite active... so enjoy those quiet and still times now, because trust me, they are going to change! Here's a link to another thread about depo Click Here Personally I would not advise it to anyone, but you have to decide that for yourself... have fun with your precious and good luck with your LC'ing~

Depo can definitely make you gain weight very easily. Even on LC it can slow your weight gain. Even on moderate levels of carbs you might gain a little. Watch your carbs very closely.

I had two shots of depo and gained from a very loose size 6 to where I am now at a tight 12. Nothing else in my diet or exercise changed at all. It did help my Fibrocystic Breast Disease feel better as opposed to how I feel on the pill, but it wasn't worth the weight gain and other health problems (increased risk for diabetes, bad cholesterol). I'm not very tall so a size 12 on me is BIG time heavy.

While Low carbing and on the Depo, I did not gain a lb, but indeed lost 7 lbs, so it can work with Low Carb. I had gone off the depo just this summer because I thought it was maybe causing mood swings (not verfied yet, and am going back on Debo), and I went on B/C Pill, I gained around 9 lbs on that within 2 months, I was low carbing, but could not control my cravings and was cheating constantly almost immediately after starting it. So, I know I am in a low majority, but as long as you stick with low carbing and following a plan, Depo should NOT make you gain weight.

Good luck.
Cindy
