Cool Herbal Teas

I'm done my homework and it seems fine to have decaff, herbal teas while on Atkins, both Induction and Maintenance... however, I'm looking for personal experiences with them. I have a really hard time while on LC'ing with diahhrea... I'm just starting to get in under control after three weeks. I'm afraid the herbal teas will act as a laxative.

Anyone???

Thanks,
Karla

Hi Karla,

Sorry about your troubles so far. I've never heard of herbal teas having a laxative effect. I drink them occasionally.

Did you, by some chance, go 'cold turkey' on caffeine? My aunt is a caffeine addict, and when she doesn't get her fix, she gets diarrhea.

Be sure you watch out for any teas with Senna. That is an herbal (and very powerful) laxative.

I did go 'cold turkey' on the caffeine. Maybe that is it? But I don't think there is any senna in the tea. The only brand I've used is Celestrial Seasonings and I don't recall that being in any of their products.

It may just be me... I have a lot of trouble in this area.

I've e-mailed the company to ask if any of their teas have a laxative effect. I hope they will respond soon!

Regards,

Karla

That's the brand I use..and I love them. Chamomile is my fav.

Sorry to hear of your tummy problems. I had a rough go too...but as it turned out I was taking too much vitamin C.
I hope all goes well with you.

Default I use that brand too....

and so far so good! I love the Lemon Zinger! And the Berry Zinger (I think that's what it's called)-it reminds me of warm jello before you pour it into the mold!
