Default Question : Soy Protein Isolate & Tomato sauce

Hi all

I have several recipes which use Soy Protein Isolate, and I was wondering if this is the same as Soy Flour or is it different again -

Also what would be the Australian equivilant to your tomato sauce (what we call tomato sauce is what you call ketchup so I am guessing it isn't that ) would it be pureed tomatoes?

Thanks in advance

Fiona

Hi Fiona,

Karen has posted the difference between soy protein powder and soy flour etc here.

If you are looking for soy protein powder (soy protein isolate), I bought "Nature's Way" - green tin - at Coles, in the "health food" section.

Not sure about the tomato sauce. I suspect it's similar to ready made pasta sauce.

thanks a million Rosebud, I should have done a better search

I checked out Woolworths and they didn't have it and the health food shop was wanting $35 for 500g and I want to make LC tortillas but I didn't want them to be THAT expensive so I am off to Coles this weekend for some shopping....

I thought that might be what tomato sauce was, I substituted a tin of crushed tomatoes in the chilli recipe and some tomato paste and it tasted just fine .....
