I have been using fitday to tally my carbs specifically every day..and I thought just for kicks I would tally what I ate the day before I officially started l/c.

According to fitday...I ate approx. 3800 calories, 137 protein, 560 CARBS!! ...AND 300 somthing fat!!!!!!!!!! That is totally amazing!!!!!!! No wonder I weigh as much as I do!!

The past week I have been averaging 1200 calories and 26 carbs. Surely with that amount of decrease I'll lose weight?!

Just out of curiousity, i did the same thing - and OMG!!! i can't believe how many carbs i was eating before - an average day for me was 2500+ calories & 350 carbs!!! Being a student i lived on peanut butter & jam sandwiches, tonnes of cereal, and granola!! I can't believe it is that high.... I think i went over in my carbs today - by 2, making it around 22... HAHA - i guess i shouldn't beat myself up about it too much now

I didn't have the balls to go on fitday, but a few weeks ago I went to the Mcdonalds website to see how many carbs and calories I ate

Large Fry - 540 calories and 68 carbs which actually isn't as bad as I thought

Large Mcflurry (16oz)...910 calories and 141carbs !!!
I thought the fries would be worse....lol

srd - good for you for getting on the plan! (whichever one you are on...)

Since you didn't post which plan, I don't want to speak out of turn. But most LC plans do NOT require eating lo-cal! You seem to be skimping on those, and that does not bode well. I think you should be upping your fat and protein intake, until you are consuming about 10 times your weight in calories. But stick with the 26 grams of carbs... You'll see the difference!

Good luck!

Yep, found out the stats:

Dean Ornish Eat More Weigh Less Diet from 2/13/03 - 3/09/03:
Typical Day
920-1400 cals
127.4g carbs
18.6g fat
3,428mg sodium
18%fat/27%protein/55%carbs

Atkins WOL from 3/10/03 to now
Typical Day
1500 Calories
24.3g carbs
133g fat
2,000 mg sodium
60%fat/24%protein/9%carbs

Interesting is how the type of calories IS what counts, huh? I was eating less than now and was 176.
Now more cals, a little, and 14 pounds lighter.

I usually eat one or two specific sets of things when I go to various places. This has changed over time. But, I can figure out with some degree of accuracy what I ate back to about 1992. Changes in eating habits usually corresponded to a major change in my life. This diet screwed up the waitresses (when I ate out) for a while. I'd been eating the same thing for 2 years and all the sudden, my diet shifted dramatically.

I also have two journals from Summer 1992 and Fall 1994 that detail everything I ate and (in some cases) did during those times. The Summer 1992 was at the request of my mother when I spent the summer with my grandmother at her cabin in the mountains. The 1994 journal was an assignment for a Health/Science class. We had to record everything we ate/did for several weeks.

I came upon them a while back...but didn't take them. I'm now kicking myself for that, because that time period corresponds to just before and just after I began putting on weight. The data in them would be extremelly usefull in pinpointing exactly how I changed my eating habits.

Default amazing!

This is so amazing to see how much we actually ate prior this woe!

Katana...I appreciate your input..I am not purposely eating low cal. I actually didn't realize that I was...or that 1200-1300 cals are low cal? I agree though..I could be eating more protein. The fat part has been bothering me a bit..making me nauseated. But, I think it is getting better.

Regarding what plan I am on...well, I intended for it to be atkins...which I am mostly doing...with exceptin to the amount of carbs..I'm pretty much staying at 26-28 carbs per day.

Here is a typical day NOW

Total: 1687

Yes, calories are down somewhat - mostly b/c I eat so many veggies now. But, I have managed to loose 21 pounds now, so I must be doing something right
