Question Egg drop soup?

Is egg drop soup from the local Chinese restaraunt allowed on Atkins induction? As far as ingredients, I would think the egg and chicken broth are OK. Is there anything hidden?

Thanks in advance!

I work as a waitress in a Chinese restaurant, and I'm pretty sure most have starches added. If the soup is the least bit thick and not completely watery, it probably has starch in it. Sorry! If it's egg drop soup you're craving, there are some good LC recipes for it.

It's not really permitted on Atkins at all. I used to make egg drop soup pre-LC, and the recipe called for the broth to be thickened with a mixture of water and cornstarch. As believe27 said, if the broth is the least bit thickened, then it has some sort of starch in it. Good luck on your LC journey!!!

Thanks, y'all. I passed on the soup and ate a salad with some teriyaki (sp) chicken.

It's so easy to make your own...

Canned Chicken Broth
Beaten egg
couple of droops of soy sauce
pepper

Bring broth to boil whip in eggs and season and then enjoy!

Hmm, I was wondering if that teriyaki chicken you ordered tasted sweet at all, because I know that at the restaurant I work at, teriyaki sauce has a lot of sugar in it.

It probably does depend on how it's made, but Fitday claims only 1.1g/ 1 cup serving, 7g of protein
