Default Insulin, Obesity, & PCOS

For those of you interested in the connection between hyperinsulinism and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), an article entitled Obesity and the Polycystic Ovary Syndrome in the July 2002 issue of the International Journal of Obesity provides more scientific evidence of the strong link between high insulin levels, obesity and PCOS. These researchers from the University Alma Mater Studiorium in Bologna Italy, state, “…insulin possesses true gonadotrophic function and an increased insulin availability at the level of ovarian tissue may favour excess androgen synthesis.” In other words, they found that insulin is a major factor in the development of PCOS. We seasoned low carbers already knew this of course, but it is great to see further confirmation from yet another university. To read this somewhat complex abstract of this study, go here: http://content.naturesj.com/content...12C2018D9700D9B (If this link takes you to the main site, click on the “Home/Issues” hyperlink on the left. Then click on the “2002” hyperlink and choose the “July 2002 Contents” button at the right. It is the first article.)

Happy Reading!
