strained yoghurt anyone?
has anyone ever tried 'strained yoghurt'.. it's a middle-eastern type of yoghurt. Basically it's yoghurt without the 'water'..so it's thick, somewhat similar to cream cheese but not so thick.
You can get it in any middle-eastern shop, it's called 'labneh' but you can make a similar version of it by getting coffee filter papers, or perhaps cheese cloth.. basically what you want to get is to drain all the water from the plain yoghurt - leave it overnight to drain good.
i havent' tried making it with a cheese cloth but i think that is better than filter paper however you can experiment with it.
once you have your 'labneh' pour some olive oil , pinch of salt and get creative it tastes really good with mint leaves
the full process of making labneh involves boiling milk..the rest i'll have to ask my mother. lol
