Cool what is the difference between Atkins induction and phase one of SBD?

I forgot one other question -What is the difference between Atkins induction and phase 1 of SBD? Does phase one put you into Ketosis? I know induction does but unsure of SBD? HELP!!

On the SBD you choose lean meats, reduced fat cheeses and salad dressings, and you're allowed an oz. of nuts a day. I don't think you limit your salad or veggies either on SBD. On Atkins, you can only have 3 cups combined (salad and veggies) a day.
Hope this helps!

The biggest difference is that SBD strictly limits fats and the types of fats. Atkins tells you which fats but does not believe that olive oil, butter and other good fats should be limited.

That's not exactly accurate. If you eat the three cups of salad or two salads and one veggie and your carb count doesn't come up to 20 you can definitely have more vegetables and/or salad.

I kept track of my calories during my first 3 weeks on south beach. Each day my carbs were between 40 and 50 after subtracting fiber. While I never tested for ketosis, all evidence suggest I was. I lost several pounds of water weight in the first week, like most do. The main difference is Atkins insists you must be in ketosis, while SB doesn't indicate it matters. It really depends on what vegetables you choose. If you decide beans are the main food you eat, you'll probably get enough carbs to stay out of ketosis. For me, it doesn't matter in the end. Fat loss occurs regardless of being in or out of ketosis as long as you are in caloric deficit. There is possibly a slight inefficiency while in ketosis, which is often referred to as the metabolic advantage.
