Default High calorie foods?

I'm having trouble getting more calories than 1,000. I am completely stuffed. Are there any foods that are extremely high in calories that I could use instead of what I am eating now, so that I won't have to eat more? I don't care for mayo or butter. I'm even having bacon daily and it's not enough. If I eat anymore I'm going to be sick. I'm on induction.

The best way to add calories without adding a lot of bulk is by using fats: full fat salad dressings on your salads, olive oil to cook with, heavy cream to deglaze a pan that you've cooked meat in for a tasty sauce. It doesn't take a lot to add up and help you keep at a calorie level that your body won't rebel against.

How about high fat meats (steak or pork chops)? If you're through induction, go for nuts (macadamias rule! 1 oz is only 1 carb). Lets see.....salad dressings (not "diet" but the full fat kind)----douse your salad with them, remembering to watch carbs. I have a couple I love that only have 1 carb per serving. When you cook your meats, use lots of olive oil. Fry eggs in butter or oil. Make deviled eggs---the mayo taste is hidden after having been mixed with the egg yolk and a touch of mustard and paprika. Eat your cheese (3-4 oz per day). Just a few ideas..........

Usually on Friday's I have a gyro for lunch (sans pita bread and sauce, etc..) and those are up there in calories. Maybe give that a shot?

Still on induction can't have bread . I think I'm going to try the fatty meats b/c nothing else seems to appeal.

Beef has a ton of cals. Cook every thing in alot of olive oil. Heavy cream. Pork rinds. macadamias (after induction), avacados, olives, cream cheese, corned beef brisket is soooo good but a ton of cals and fat, chicken with skin left on, lamb,

My highest calorei items are always the meats. You can check out my fitday from a few days ago to see high cal amounts

i haven't been able to figure out why a person can have avocado but not macadamias. makes no sense.
a cup of macadamias is 18.4 carbs
a cup of avocado is 17
if you're in the induction phase, you should be able to eat either of those as long as you keep the total count for the day under 20. that means 1/4 cup of nuts, or 1/4 cup of avocado would give you 4.6 and 4.25 respectively. if you want less, eat 1/8 cup and call it good.
as long as you keep track and write things down, those 3 or 4 macadamias that make up 1/4 cup shouldn't kill ya.

i sympathize! i'm having the same problem - when i check my totals at fitday i'm at 1000-1200 calories and at 168 pounds i know i should be eating more if atkins is going to work well (although as of my last weigh-in at day four of induction i'd lost 4 pounds so i was at a pound a day).

having shifted from being a semi veggie (i ate fish) to atkins, it's hard to eat so much meat without filling up fast - and that's making it difficult to add the calories. but i just bought 4 small avocados which i'll start adding to my omlettes....and i figure i'll have to find a way to add a zero carb snack - any ideas?

vaporgirl... hey, you're my sis in disguise! i've been meatless for over 2 years and only recently began to eat fish and seafood (about 6 months ago, i'm guessing).
unfortunately, i let my guard down after my 4th week of induction and ate my first piece of "meat" about 2 weeks ago in one hell of a long time.
well, i guess this isn't the site to get into a vegetarianism discussion, but i will say that it's pretty easy for me to take in 1600 calories a day and i too feel really full, really fast! whenever i calculate what i've eaten in a day on fitday, i almost always hit 1600 and it surprises me because i don't eat large quantities of anything! as a matter of fact, i often think i'm not eating enough but the numbers show differently. i eat more fat than protein and virtually no carbs (15 or less daily).
add some heavy cream or oils, butter, etc., i eat lots of homemade mayo (deviled eggs) and tuna fish packed in oil. tonight, i had 2 cups of north carolina pulled pork bbq meat. oh so yummy and full of calories....0 carbs.

Actually, we have a reasonably active vegetarian forum here - just look down on the main forum list.

I make a lot of stuff with cheese and cream like broccoli with cream and cheese makes like a sauce

well lastly i would say don't worry tons about it if you can't get it in Akins in his book doesn't advocte counting carbs...but just my 2 cents worth

hey pcubie -

yeah was a semi - veg for maybe 6 years until about a week ago. but as fish becomes more iffy, i decided to dive in and do atkins - beef objections were to commerical processing and natural grass fed is much easier to get these days! trouble is it's also more lean than the commercial stuff and not helping me out much in the calorie dept.

am still getting used to heavy creams etc. been doing soy milk for the last year or so and it's hard to go back to the heavy stuff once you're used to a lighter touch. all the meat and rich food seems to really put a hold on my appetite which is what's it should do i guess.

hey - i forgot that i can eat bbq again now (watching that sauce until i'm off induction of course)! thanks for the reminder!

Yesterday I made a dessert from crushed pork rinds, melted butter, cinnimon and splenda that someone had suggested on here. I had an EAS shake with it. Cal total : 412 cals :P 2 tablespoons of butter are 204 cals on thier own.

Start buttering those veggies
