Unhappy Is it normal to gain weight when you first start exercising alot.

I've been exercising since dec 5th, at first I was doing 5 days a week, about 30-45 minutes a day, mainly cardio...
for the last two weeks I have started doing 6 days a week,
a hour a day, and alot more lifting and weights....
Monday is ab day, tuesday is upperbody day, wednesday is lower body day, thursday back to abs, friday arms, and saturday legs, and then sunday is rest...I start every morning off with aerobics so I am always getting atleast a 20 minute tv aerobic workout along with the weights...like I said a total of about an hour altogether a day..sometimes a little more 70 minutes even 80, but mainly 60..anyway!!!--LOL the scale started going up, at first just 2 lbs so I figured it was water weight..but kept going day after day until I showed a 10 lb gain on the scale!!!! what is causing this...

I am on the atkins diet, I am in OWL doing about 35 carbs right now...I am not new to atkins, this is my (zillionith???) time through, and planning on sticking to it this time..

here are my stats..

270-195-135

then fell off the wagon...

now that I am back on--

270-202-135

and currently with the gain on the scale..

270-212-135

Please help me make sense of this..thank you...

My question is: have your clothes gotten tighter?? If they have, then I don't know what's going on, but my guess is that with your weight training, you are gaining some major muscles. And since muscle weighs more than fat, your weight may go up, but your body fat % may be going down. In a sense, you are getting DENSER. You may not be losing fat at the same time though, which would calculate out as a gain of sorts. But a gain that's great! As long as you aren't getting bigger (and if you're anything like me, you are super sensitive to the slightest gain) you should be fine, in fact proud to be on your way to being super buff!

good luck,
grace

Default thank you for your replay..as a

matter of fact..some time after I posted I went up and dug out a pair of jeans that was too small, although they are still snug, I was able to wear them yesterday without dying..LOL..in other words I could breath..and was comfortable enough to play outside with the kids..so I guess I am getting smaller in spite of the gaining..thanks again..
