Unhappy Alternative fuel source for Gatorade

I am training for a Marathon in October and am up to 36 miles a week running. I have recently begun to introduce gatorade into my diet to fuel my long runs, and my cross-training of double header softball games every week. Otherwise I stay low carb and am into a pretty steady WOL regime now.

But all the sugar seems to interfere with a few things. Sleep and bowel movements and fatique to name a few. But I think I need the energy now that I run so much; I don't want to burn muscle for energy. I'm getting ready to go back to PROPEL (3g carbs vs. 22 in Gatorade) but am not sure it will suffice.

Any advice or info on liquid carbo-loading would be appreciated. Thanks!

why not just dilute the gatorade with plain water to get the strength you want -

another thing you can look into - look at the powdered drink mixes designed for cyclists - some are designed for taking pre-ride and some for during.

I've found one sports drink with zero carbs but haven't tried it yet. It has caffeine but that might be an acceptable trade-off if it works. It's called XS Energy drink.
