Hi Meridith,

Welcome aboard. Click on the YellowPages link at the right side. It's a collection by members on all the things we can find locally in Canada, U.S., U.K. and growing. Online ordering in Canada is not that hot yet. Check in the co-op forum, where IslandGirl organizes some group purchases to defray the cost.

Bulk Barn has pork rinds( Bagged like chips). Superstore carries 50 fifty jam in the pharmecy dept ( diabetic) section, they also have pumkincorn snacks which are in a snack bag. Find a health food store or natrural food store and you will find the glen muir products which are organic and low in sugar, canned tomatoes, salsa ( really tangy for a tbls.) and paste. Pesto paste can be found in the condiment department at most stores -naturally low carb. I have also had sucess at the vitamin stores they have health food sections that you can get the powders you need- soya, almond etc. (Bulk Barn also carries these powders). The stores that carry the protein powder usually carry atkins products- I bought the chocolate shake mix but I prefer really food so it didn't stay in my diet long. There is a cook book out called Fabulous Lo Carb Cuisine- the recipes are both easy and delicious. If you can't find it at the library you can order it in at your local bookstore. It uses things I have in the house which I like.
Hope this was of some help. Jo-Ann

The saucy answer is: around the outside walls of any supermarket. That's where you find meat, fish, poultry, eggs, salad vegetables & LC veggies, heavy cream, cheeses & butter. The only things I look for in the aisles are artificial sweeteners.

You may find that while these LC products are tempting, some of them can cause stalls (because of undeclared carb-type products like glycerine, or just hidden carbs). Since this way of eating is for ever, not just a diet, I think it is wise to try to eat normal food, rather than finding substitutes for the high carb stuff. It is a lot easier to eat in most restaurants on LC than on low fat or low cal. And you get all the really delicious stuff on LC. JMHO
