Unhappy i lied...can you forgive me?

about my starting weight. i was so ashamed to put down my true weight that i just rounded it down to the nearest 10. sheesh, how dumb is that? so my true weight (honest to goodness) prior to beginning atkins was actually 217.

not that i'm making any excuses but i have for so long about it that it's a difficult habit to break. why i did it here is beyond me - i mean, it's not like we've ever met or anything. lol

but what makes me even sadder is that this diet is really working for me and i couldn't share it with anyone. i had my first woosh 7 days into the diet. i got on the scale tuesday morning (the day after memorial day) and was down 5 pounds! i nearly peed my pants (which is quite normal for me these days with all the water - lol). then wednesday, i lost another pound and today yet another which brings me *truly* at 210 - hehe - too funny. i swear i thought my scale was broken all these years.

but it's been eating away at me because you people are so incredibly supportive and inspirational that i felt i was somehow letting you down, especially those who are still new to this woe.

so i wanted to start again with a clean slate and be honest right up front from here on out. i hope you still love me...because i adore all of you!

You know what, I dont feel let down at all.

As long as you do your best to remain true to yourself, in this and in all things, you have nothing to answer for.

Keep up the good work.

No harm done, cetacean! Sometimes, that number is a little hard to look at yourself - let alone putting it on display for everyone else to see! Congratulations on your 7 pound loss... you're off to a great start!!

You DO NOT need to apoligize !
But coming clean is a great feeling isnt it?
It is so normal not to even know your starting weight over fear.
I think those scales make me crazy. It is so great that you can be honest with yourself about this.
It is also amazing to take concrete steps to getting healthy.
I think that before we all deciding to make a committment to this plan we were all in a little bit of denial. I was not even thinking about what I ate, just eating whatever the hell I could fit into my stomach, after doing the plan for a while it is like Holy Cow ! I cant believe I used to eat all that !
With that revalation come many more, for me it is like, why did I let myself get out of control? Who did I think I was hiding this from? And so much more.
So it is great progess just to realize how much we were hiding from the truth overall !
Good for you for the confession, I think you are way ahead of most people on a weight loss journey and your positive energy just vibes us all !

The starting weight that I used was after 2 weeks on induction. I did not want to get on the scale at all. I think my starting weight was about 7 lbs heavier then I was willing to admit to myself. So what you did is not out of the ordinary.

Well I just find it kind of funny. It seems a Woman on a diet will round the numbers down for their starting weight. While a man will round the number up, so it appears that he has lost more weight in the beginning that he really has (unfortunately my starting weight was correct.
I guess what is really important is that you have started. Great job on the 1st 7 pounds.
Oh and I would have better luck finding Bin Ladden than finding out my wife's true weight. Thankfully she is doing Atkins with me.
