I went from a size 11 to a size 7 in approximately 6 months. After 2 years of eating low carbs, following his book closely, I gained back most of my weight and size. I slowly added in good carbs but continued to eat a lot of fat and meats. I believe now that the bad estrogens I've been exposed to came from that intake of too much regular meat and dairy. I went back on the diet again and it worked for a year then the weight returned again. (At that time I didn't know I had hypothyroid and that's probably why my weight returned).
Now I eat the Maker's Diet as closely as possible. The difference is that the grass-fed beef and organic dairy products like Kiefer are not tainted with chemicals, hormones, etc. fed to the cattle. Cheese and other dairy have in them what the cows eat. If cows are allowed to graze on grass and not grain fed, they produce meat that is actually good for you. Even then, it is best to eat it moderately. A good diet will consist of the above mentioned along with organic vegetables, fruits and whole grains according to the Maker's Diet. I believe eating that bad meat and dairy is the reason my thyroid is messed up now. I believe it caused such a toxic build up in my system that it lead to this problem. I can't go into how much time and money I've spent on nutritionists, doctors etc for 10 years now. But believe me, this is what I truly think has caused my suffering.
A person like myself does much better on a diet higher in these foods with an emphasis on more protein since I am hypothyroid. I notice if I limit my grains/fruits and eat more fish, protein powder and freshly made green juices, I feel even better and tend to keep from gaining more weight. I have to lose 20 pounds because of the thyroid but I'm told that no matter what I do unless my thyroid issues are corrected, it is very tough to lose the weight short of protein shake fasts. I have done the fasts and lost weight very quickly but it just comes back even if I eat a good diet like the Maker's Diet. So I've learned to just relax about it and have decided to try and conentrate more on feeling good. I think my weight will come off eventually but if it doesn't I'm not going to get too stressed about it anymore. I see a very good doctor and have spent 2 years with a profesional nutritionist. The more you read about nutrition, women's health, and learn as much as possible, the better because it is impossible to simply trust just one opinion. I've seen many doctors over the years for my health issues and this Maker's Diet thing has made the most sense of all.

The Makers Diet.
yeah.. The eating plan is great but Jordan Rubin also suggest that you dont take a bath for days at a time and women should not wear a bra. Oh and I remember reading something along the line of "You will only get cancer is you are predestend for it (sp)"
yeah..... sun tanning here I come..
