Default help--stomach pain in left side!

Hi all,

I've been doing Atkins for about three weeks now, and have lost about 7 lbs. Today a pain suddenly appeared in the left side of my stomach. It is not a horrible piercing pain, but definitely uncomfortable. It almost feels like a menstrual cramp (though it most definitely is not), except it's not near the uterus. I'm worried that I might have damaged myself somehow eating so much fat and protein! Has anyone else experienced this? Could I have hurt an organ? Thanks for your help!

As gross as it is, it sounds as though you have gas!

Having a warm drink (ie tea) normally helps ease the pain and get rid of the gas. Have you had anything to eat/drink yesterday or today that you don't normally eat/drink? Somethings tend to give people gas, so that's something to think about!

Good luck!

Hello Living In Tn...Yes I have had the same thing happen to me, cause was had to go potty. Not gone for a few days. Sometimes normal on LCing during induction and not on induction. If you are not drinking lots of water, this can happen.

It can be many things, and probably not related to Atkins. If it still bothers you, go and see a doctor.

I agree with Arie. Most likely it's gas or constipation (have you been eating things with sugar alcohols in them, by chance?), but it it continues to bother you or gets worse, go see your doctor. There are no organs that I'm aware of to the left of your stomach, but there is a bend in your colon there and it can cause some discomfort if a gas pocket or fecal matter is having trouble passing through that spot.

Default thanks

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I believe the pain was just innocent gas. Also, yes I have been eating Atkins bars for breakfast (I believe they have sugar alcohols in them). I think part of the problem was that I made the mistake of having two yesterday--one for breakfast, one for lunch. Won't happen again.
