Smile Hello another newbie here!

Hello Everyone,
Wow, first off I must say some of the before and after pics are very encouraging.

I'm new to low carbing and I am wanting to start Atkins next Monday. I've read the book (at least to the Induction phase) and was wondering do you have to follow the menu samples in the book to a tee or can you plan around that or go by your own menu plan? And is mayonaise allowed on induction? I can't seem to find any info. on it.

Another thing I find confusing is reading labels. Is there any info on this site to help with the reading. Today I picked up some lunch meat and it said 1 gr carb and then when I read the ingredients sugar was in there so I'm assuming its out of the question to have this. Am I right in thinking this way? I find that I have read so many different things about low carbing that I may be getting confused.

Now onto the next thing....trying to figure this site out.

later,

Welcome and best of luck to you. No, you don't have to follow the sample menus. Just stick to the list of acceptable foods for induction and do what you like with them, staying below 20 carbs of course.

It's hard to find processed meats that have zero carbs and no sugar. Try to buy the ones with the least amount of either, or cook your own chicken, pork, beef, and slice it yourself.

Happy to report that most mayonnaise is quite okay. In fact, it's one of my mainstays of this WOE.

All best,

Kay
