Question New Posts location?

I'm sorry and am not trying to beat a dead horse here (or whatever that phrase is?!), but when you post a new thread why doesn't it appear right away at the top of the forum you posted in? For example, if I post a new thread in Atkins, then, I go to Atkins, I can't find my thread for quite a while (several days). But if I use a search with my name, I see it is somewhere... and if I do that right after posting, I see it has only my view and no responses yet. Why don't I see many other new threads with only one or two views and no posts yet on the Atkins thread? Wouldn't these appear every time a new thread is started? Look at all the threads.... none have no posts yet? Where do the new threads go?
I know Doreen tried to explain that many people are posting at once and they quickly get buried, but how come there are no brand new threads anywhere on the post? I will start a thread and then go directly back to the forum and can't find it there.
Do you understand what I mean? It can't get buried that quickly because I can see how fast the forum is "moving down" with new posts coming in and it often is not all that fast... other times it is.
Do you understand my question? I just always feel that I don't get it...
why aren't there often new posts popping up with no respenses yet? They have to "start somewhere" right?
The reason I ask is that I seem to not get into most threads until they are basically almost saturated/aged too much. I don't even see most of them until they are already pretty heavily posted.
Thanks for trying to enlighten me here!!!
Whew!
Cheers,

Hi Laurie,

Um, I'm afraid this going to sound condescending - I truly don't mean it to be - but new posts DO go straight to the top of the forum wherre they are posted.

Whenever you post a new thread, check that forum straight away and you'll see your thread at the top - under any sticky threads.

In fact, this one is right now at the top of this forum. Okay, not at the very top, because there are a lot of "stickies" here, and they don't move towards the bottom, they are "stuck" at the top. Perhaps that is what is confusing you?

Maybe it depends at what time of day you are looking, but from time to time, there are new posts in most forums.

I hope that helps you, Laurie.

HMMMMMMM.

Could also very well be the browswer 'window' isn't being closed completely or refreshed very often.

Regular closure of the browser windows AND of the whole computer prevents the "cache" from holding and redisplaying OLD 'screens'.

Just possibly.

Ah the bane of the full-time connection.

Laurie,

Try hitting the "Refresh" button on your browser, and see if it makes a difference.

Generally you don't have to do that, but some browsers (or they they're set up) don't update pages quite often.
