Default nausea and migraines?

Hi. I was just wondering if anyone has experienced nausea and/or more frequent migraines while low-carbing. This has been a frequent problem for me while trying to live low-carb. Though I appreciate the weight loss and many other health benefits from low-carbing, I find it very challenging to stick to when I feel so nauseated all the time. This only occurs when I'm in ketosis (where I want to be!). It is currently next to impossible for me to eat anything low-carb, as this just does not appeal to me when I'm nauseated. So for the past 2 days I've eaten very little (an egg and some farmer's cheese, which might have set off my migraine today). I think if I ate a few saltine crackers, it would settle my stomach, however I don't want to fall out of ketosis. I feel bad for complaining, but was wondering if anyone else could relate. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. I want to stick with a low-carb woe, it's just been very difficult lately. Thanks for anything you have to share!

Sugarless, I have to say I have had the opposite effect. And I know others have reported an lessening or abatement of their migraines.

However, if it seems to be ketosis (or a higher degree of ketosis) that is causing your problem, perhaps you should look into another plan that does not require ketosis.

Many of us enjoy The Schwarzbein Principle. We eat enough carbs to stay just out of ketosis. It's not as fast a weight-loss as Atkins, but it works and I feel absolutely fabulous on it.

I think you should read the book.

Default thanks for your reply Deb

I appreciate your reply Deb. Maybe I should look into another plan, such as The Schwarzbein Principle. I need to be more patient in losing the weight, as I know this is a life-long thing. Maybe my migraine wasn't related to being in ketosis? I don't know. However, I'm very happy to report that my nausea is gone today (as is the migraine). I've just been trying to maintain my previous weight loss this summer before deciding to lose these last few pounds. I think my body has just been going through withdrawel from carbs or something. Thanks and have a great day!

Hi Sugarless
When I began Atkins I found out that it was aspartame which had given me migraine for 20 years. Now I observe a strict embargo on the stuff and use polyols, saccarine. or stevia to sweeten.
I have found that low carbing highlights previously 'masked' health problems. Doctors treat symptoms and label sets of symptoms as syndromes. I am also wondering how much candida albican overgrowth has to answer for. I am currently taking herbal meds to erradicate candida.
